Kinja'd!!!

Today I get to drive and review a perfectly restored 1987 Nissan Micra and compare it to the new Micra. I love this job. Cheap econo-beans make me so happy. What do you want to know about either Micra? I have both cars all day in Toronto. Drop by the shoot today at E.T. Seton park if you want to check them out!

Too bad we don’t get the Micra down here. If Nissan can sell it under 10k in Canada, they can definitely sell it that cheap in the US!

Not a Justy.

The Justy was another variant on the Suzuki Cultus platform. That thing was made in a baffling array of forms.

How did the old K10 Micra survive this long without converting itself to a little pile of rust?

Why would anyone want to restore one?

Well the fake Justy was. But not the 1st gen ones.

Do either of them lean like a boat like the k11 micras do?

How roomy is the old one versus the new one? That's one of the most frustrating things to me about newer cars. The older ones (you know, the ones that were smaller to begin with) seemed to be roomier than the cars they produce today (I'm looking at you, Honda). I guess this is all progress in the name of safety. But I don't like it.

Who on god's green earth would restore a 1987 Nissan Micra? LOL.

Does the 87 feel more spacious inside? Are they both manuals?

Just the “second" gen version.

Do they have Datsun-rivaling amounts of 2nd gear torques?

It actually has 120,000 km on the car! Tedious maintenance by the first owner and a sympathetic restoration by Nissan about a year ago.

Oh way more human space in the old one. No big console, lower belt line and lower seats for more headroom.

Yes and yes. The ‘87 was very roomy.

Haha yeah sounds just like the k11. I drove my gfs 2002 micra around a banked turn id take safely at 35mph in the Twingo at about 30. There was much tyre squeal and i thought the thing was about to keel over. Fun and scary all at once.
